Hi, everyone. As promised, now that the latest gunboat tournament has been unmasked, I've calculated the current ratings and rankings. There were also two non-tournament games completed during the tournament; I couldn't rate them until the tournament games were public because some of the players were also in the tournament.

First, the promotions (in order of game completion):

2009-44: Scullers to Grade 3
2009-42: Scullers to Grade 4
2009-41: Justinim to Grade 1
2009-49: Mikijm to Grade 2
2009-51: Scullers to Grade 5

As you can see, Scullers benefitted from several solos: 2009-44 (Italy), 2009-40 (Germany), and 2009-51 (France). Congratulations to him and to Gobogen (solo in 2009-41 as France) and to Jpoulter (solo in 2009-31 as Germany).

Hi William - How kind!

Being mentioned in the same sentence as Rooney is indeed an honour, although unfortunately he was unable to wave his magic wand last night and prevent the mighty reds being dumped on by bayern munich!!!

That said, my results are very much a purple patch - thank god Fonz did not publish my previous results!!! ;-(

You really should join in on the Shotgun Gunboat Tournament - it is a lot of fun and fast paced too...

Congratulations to Blammo on his solo as Turkey -- and on being promoted from Grade 2 to Grade 4! He gained a lot of points by defeating a couple of highly-rated players (including myself, alas).

Thank you. I think this was my first Gunboat solo since I won the first Gunboat game (2002-12). I certainly hope it isn't that long before I win another.

I didn't get around to commenting on the EOG, but I almost had you (and Scullers et al.) beat in 2009-49, which was my first game back playing Diplomacy for over 2 years. I got up to 17 SCs and was forced into a 3-way. (I love [well, maybe not love] that point in the game when the surviving players decide that you are the biggest threat and gang up on you). So, for game 2010-1 I was determined to go for the solo and just managed to get to the magic 18 SCs.

Sometimes, a promotion is not credited immediately after a win, but when the combination of rating and games played combine to bring a player to a new rank. This is particularly likely when a player has a shared victory in his first game.
